From Hopi elders
A Message from the Hopi Elders for 2010 You have been telling people this is the Eleventh Hour. Now you must go back and tell the people that this is The Hour.
Rubbing up against everything
At a Greendrinks networking event I met a guy in the heating business. He asked me if I ever wondered why a certain temperature in the summer feels fine but in the winter feels chilly. He explained that the walls and objects are literally using us as a heat supply. We rarely think of our own role in the chain of heat distribution.

The Paradox of Our Time
This has been around the internet so many times, I hesitated to post it. But the wisdom is timeless and worth reading over time. I originally posted this as George Carlin's piece. I've since found out from his daughter, Kelly Carlin, that he didn't write it. In his denial of authorship, he said he thought it was "a sappy load of ...." He's right in some ways - plus it errs too much on the judgmental side for my taste. But, in other ways, I think sappy saps us for a reason. The Paradox of our Time by Dr. Bob Moorehead
The Soul of an Entrepreneur
by Jim Randel http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-randel/the-soul-of-an-entreprene_b_382435.html I have had the good fortune to be close to many successful entrepreneurs. And so I have a perspective as to what separates those who make it big from those who don't. Yes, the quality of the idea is critical, of course, as is the access to capital. And certainly being at the right place at the right time is the ultimate good fortune.
From Forbes.com: Six Tips On Hiring A Business Coach
It seems like everyone is peddling advice. Now to cut wheat from chaff. // < ![CDATA[ var EmailSponsor=1; var adStringx92 = ""; // ]]>// < ![CDATA[ var EmailSponsor=1; var adStringx91 = ""; // ]]> Steven Berglas, Ph.D., 12.04.09, 03:00 PM EST What is a business coach, anyway? I get that question all the time, and honestly, the answer is pretty squishy. In today's "helper" economy (as Warren Buffet snidely coined it), a coach can play the role of consultant, shrink, drill instructor, sounding board--whatever "help" managers, executives and entrepreneurs need to boost their performance, or just get through the night.

Gandhi’s Neurons: The Practice of Empathy
An excellent article from American Express Open Forum. Values-driven leadership means always sharpening empathy. We used to think if a leader was too empathetic then s/he was too soft. What we know now is that without empathy, leaders become self-absorbed tyrants who build dysfunctional teams. Still, we don’t know yet how to measure empathy or its effects on the workplace so it’s still... [Read more]
Making a Living/Enriching the World
Making a Living/Enriching the World You are not here merely to make a living: You are here to enable the world to live amply, with greater vision and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world and you impoverish yourself if you forget that errand.” - Woodrow Wilson As a leadership coach whose worked with a wide range of successful professionals, I’ve learned that... The Golden Rule
There’s a version of the Golden Rule in just about every culture and religion. Here are a few: From the Baha’I Faith: “Ascribe not to any soul that which thou wouldst not have ascribed to thee, and say not that which thou doest not.” From Buddhism: “Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.” From Christianity: “And as ye would that men should do to you, do...
